While many private photographs document the "Iron Curtain" and its demolition, videos are relatively rare. This is due to the technical development of cameras for private filming. In 1989, affordable VHS recording was not yet widespread. Today, preserving these fragile tapes for future generations is a challenge for museums and archives.
The House of Austrian History invites everyone to contribute VHS recordings documenting the “Iron Curtain” or encounters along the border in 1989. Thanks to a cooperation with the Austrian Mediathek, these valuable recordings can be preserved for future generations.
