Aflenzer joined the National Socialist Teachers’ League in 1937 at a time when it was illegal in Austria. After the “Anschluss” in 1938 she was also an official member of the Nazi Party.
After having been dismissed from teaching in 1945, the district school inspector responsible for Deutschlandsberg (Styria) requested that Aflenzer be reinstated. This request was denied. In 1947 the Regional Court for Criminal Matters in Graz initiated proceedings against her for illegal membership of the Nazi Party, but the case was dropped. And in January 1948, Aflenzer was back in the classroom, teaching at the Steyregg primary school in Upper Austria.
