Anna Enserer (1919–unbekannt)
Concentration camp guard in concentration camp Ravensbrück and concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau
In 1940, at the age of 21, Anna Enserer from Ried in Upper Austria applied for the job of a guard at the concentration camp Ravensbrück and was hired. She followed in her sister’s footsteps, who had been working there as a guard since 1939. As a dog handler for the SS, Anna Enserer always walked around with a German Shepard that was trained to attack the prisoners. In 1942 she petitioned to be transferred to the concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Enserer was never put on trial for the Nazi crimes she committed. When interviewed later on, she tried to portray herself as a victim and deny having had any responsibility.
