Object in focus: 50 years of legal limit rule and family law reform
from March 6, 2025
Just in time for International Women's Day, the hdgö is highlighting a topic that is as important as ever despite its historic anniversary: Fifty years ago, with the family law reforms marriage was defined as an equal partnership and “time-limit rule”, made abortions carried out in the first three months of pregnancy exempt from punishment.
The hdgö is taking these milestones in gender policy as an opportunity to present new objects from its collection in its foyer: Selected editions of “AUF-Eine Frauenzeitschrift” and a typewriter used by an AUF editor. From 1974 onwards AUF was a mouthpiece for feminist demands and a way to build networks. These anniversaries are also an occasion to ask: Nothing left to achieve?
