Parking

Parking spaces for visitors with limited mobility are located in the short-stay parking zone on Heldenplatz square in front of the equestrian statue of Prince Eugen.

 

Accessible entry to the Neue Burg building

Barrier-free access to the main entrance of the Neue Burg is via the left-hand ramp. At the top, the right-hand side of the door can be opened with a Eurokey or by using the intercom. There are then some steps up to the entrance hall. A platform lift is available (load capacity: 300 kg). This is also operated with a Eurokey or by using the intercom.

Please note: There is no tactile guidance system in the Neue Burg building.

 

Accessible entry to the House of Austrian History

The entrance to the hdgö is located on the right-hand side of the entrance hall. The ticket desk (raised ground floor) can be reached by lift. The lift is located on the right-hand side of the entrance hall, to the left of the entrance to the hdgö.

 

A lift will take you to the main exhibition on the mezzanine level and to special exhibitions on the first floor of the building. You will need your ticket to operate the lift (barcode scanner).

 

Physical barriers within the building

Entry to the Foyer of the hdgö on the mezzanine level is through two sets of doors one after another (the doors do not open automatically).

 

Please note: In sight of these doors is the welcome desk in the museum Foyer, where there is always a members of the Education Team on hand. Should you need assistance, they will be happy to come over and help open the doors.

 

Finding your way around the main exhibition ‘New Ages: Austria since 1918’

A wheelchair can be used in all areas of the exhibition (minimum width of all pathways: 1m).
