As a member of the conservative Republican Party, he presided over the most populous state in the US until the end of 2010. After achieving fame as a body builder and action film hero, he then fought over government budgets and environmental protection. The ‘Styrian Oak’ was even considered by some as a candidate for the US presidency, but without any possibility of actually being elected, since you have to have been born in the USA to be eligible.
