The SHOWING STYRIA exhibition was scheduled to launch in April 2021 with a mobile pavilion at Vienna’s Heldenplatz. Unfortunately, the opening had to take place virtually due to the lockdown, and the pavilion was only able to open to visitors at its second location.
SHOWING STYRIA serves as a reflection and critical examination of the state’s self-image, as well as a means of self-assurance. It addresses societal questions about history, present, and future, presenting them from the perspective of art and culture in a popular format. The hdgö is a cooperation partner for the presentation at Heldenplatz.
The hdgö’s main exhibition offers many insights into the history of Styria: Did you know, for example, that in 1918 the emperor was overthrown in Radkersburg? Or that in 1927 sports news was flown to Graz by airplane? And that a high school professor from Graz accidentally recorded world history in 1968? Discover the answers to these questions at the museum!
