An “American” Flu?
The actual origin of this flu is still unclear. A military base in Kansas, US has been named as one of the first known sites of the outbreak. The deployment of US soldiers is considered to have started the spread of influenza in Europe in March 1918. From that time, the number of infections increased among the troops in all of the states engaged in the war. At the end of the First World War, the virus spread to all continents as soldiers returned home and masses assembled at political rallies.
