Liberation Day

On 8 May, Liberation Day, museum admission is free.

Visit the main exhibition New Ages: Austria since 1918 at the hdgö which traces Austrian history from the end of the Habsburg monarchy to the present day. Extended by Unstoppable! Eurovision Song Contest Highlights at the Museum, a presentation featuring objects that have shaped Austria’s history in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Alongside this, the temporary exhibition It’s All Work. Women’s Paid and Unpaid Labour, Fotoarchiv Blaschka 1950–1966 explores women’s work in post-war Austria through the archive of a press photo agency in Graz.

Stitched Into Memory, installed in the foyer of the House of Austrian History, is a memorial artwork dedicated to victims of Nazi “euthanasia” killings during the Second World War.

Hidden Nazi Activism. Spotlight on a Personal Archive is a research-based installation that explores individual biographies connected to National Socialism in Austria, focusing on women who played an active role in building and upholding the Nazi regime. It is located on the left-hand side of the foyer.
