of Austrian
History
The single family home was an exception until the 1950s. Changes came as a result of government subsidies, increased car ownership and the “economic miracle”: through hard work many people were able to fulfil the dream of owning their own home. This collective struggle was preserved in film and on slides. The selection on view here was not chosen by us, but by you, the viewer. Upload your own films and photos from Austria! You could be looking at your video/picture the next time you visit our exhibit: “Into the Unknown – Austria Since 1918” on the Heldenplatz in Vienna. This online exhibit creates a unique mosaic each time. Every click of a plus expands the picture. Videos and pictures that are side by side, also have something in common.
