INFO

Nazism left traces all over Austria – sites of historical events and remnants of the Nazi regime, as well as memorials erected after 1945. These symbols of memory mirror the way the society that produced them understood itself and the image it created of its history.  Over recent decades, a shift in attitudes has led to increased recognition of the victims of Nazism in public space. At the same time, however, in some places there are still visible honours for individuals who contributed to Nazism and, in others, an absence where there should be symbols of memory.

Which sites relating to the memory of Nazism are important to you? How should they be designed and how used? We recommend to upload a photo that shows where something new should be built, or something changed, added, reframed or commented. You can also submit an example of what you see as a successful act of remembering, or of something that doesn’t need to be changed.

We will publish all ideas that you submit that comply with the following guidelines: You can upload simple phone photos, sketches or videos that show the current situation of a site or plans for its future. Please give your suggestion a title and describe it – you’re welcome to use keywords. There’s also the possibility of adding a suggestion to an existing contribution on a particular site, or of placing a tick next to any ideas that you think have worked particularly well.

We are interested in any picture, provided it was made by you personally and complies with our Conditions of Use. Suggestions that glorify Nazism will not be accepted.
